Case study · OE Meyer

From a fragile Excel catalog to a gas cylinder app the whole team uses

An industrial gas distributor ran their cylinder catalog out of a spreadsheet only one person understood. We rebuilt it as a Microsoft Power App: searchable, safe to edit, and usable from the warehouse floor.

Client OE Meyer
Sector Industrial gas distribution
Headline 1 spreadsheet retired

The problem

  • The product catalog lived in a spreadsheet with years of formulas layered on top of each other.
  • One person knew which columns mattered. When they were out, changes waited.
  • Sales staff on the floor could not look anything up without going back to a desk.

What we built

  • A Microsoft Power App holding the same catalog, with the pricing rules moved out of formulas and into logic that can be read and tested.
  • Search and filtering built for how the team actually asks for a cylinder, not how the spreadsheet happened to be sorted.
  • Edit permissions so a mistyped cell cannot quietly change a price for everyone.
  • Generated and validated through our own Canvas Forge toolchain, so every change was checked before it shipped.

What changed

  • The catalog is usable from a phone or tablet anywhere in the building.
  • Changes no longer depend on one person being available.
  • The pricing logic is written down, which means it can be reviewed instead of trusted.
